Knitting Update

I am working on a couple of knitting projects right now.  To start with I am still working on the Northmavine Hoody from Colours of Shetland and Ecclefechan Mitts both by Kate Davies. I am starting the sleeves on the hoody and as for the mitts I have only done one so far and below is a photo of what it’s up to so far.

My hands have been aching a lot more than usual lately so I haven’t been doing much knitting this past week.  Not sure if it’s to do with winter or not taking enough breaks whilst knitting.

I am also working on the Autumn Blush shawl by Joji Locatelli using Codex by The Sanguine Gryphon in Lady Mary Killigrew colourway.  I have tried to knit a couple of different patterns with this yarn but was not happy with the result and frogged them each time.  But this time I think the pattern and the yarn work well together, so no frogging.

I received some items in the mail – my lovely skein of fingering weight pure cashmere from Bare Naked Yarns.

The yarn is 100% pure Mongolian Cashmere by Pure Bella Yarns.  It’s destined for a shawl but I am not sure which pattern yet.  It may even become a lovely scarf. projects 022

Last week I also received the book I ordered called “Up, Down, All-Around ” which is a stitch dictionary by Wendy Bernard.  Now, I really didn’t need another stitch dictionary as I already have quite a few and this may sound silly, but the cover really appealed to me plus I also own one other book by Wendy that I really love so I decided to get this one too.  And I am glad that I did, the book is really well set out and has some patterns as well and I really like the Checkeboard Mesh Pullover which I will make for myself.

And last but not least, something pretty from my garden.  The Violets are blooming in my garden and I picked some for my vase today.  I was surprised that they have such a strong perfume.

Have a wonderful week!  Happy knitting!

Do I have time to blog?

I don’t know if it comes down to time or if I could be bothered. I used to blog all the time but life got complicated and l lacked motivation plus I couldn’t be bothered learning a new site. But today I decided to give it another try  and see if  it will last.

It was my gorgeous granddaughters birthday a couple of months ago and I had arranged to have this amazing birthday cake made for her.

I’ve had WordPress for a while but have not posted on it till now. There is still loads to set up on it but I will have to do it a bit at a time. Today is also the start of Tour de France and I am really looking forward to it. I love seeing all the beautiful scenery and the yummy foods.

A really great pattern by Robin Ulrich. I used Skein hand dyed Merino/Cashmere Fingering Weight in Barley and Blush colourway. This is a gorgeous soft yarn and would make a wonderful sweater because it’s sooo soft ans squishy.

I am working full-time so my knitting time is limited.  My walking has suffered since I’ve had to have our beautiful Vizsla put down last November.  I have thought about getting another dog but because I am at work most of the time I don’t think it would be fair on the poor animal.  I guess I will just have to somehow to get myself motivated and try to walk every day.  Walking is good for our health and as my daughter says “It clears the head”!

That’s it from me for today.   Happy knitting to all!
